Community guidelines

Last updated: 12 October 2026. These rules apply to the website and Who’s Calling Me? apps.

Tell us what happened, not who to blame

A useful report describes the call you received: what the caller said, whether it was recorded, what they requested and roughly when it happened. Say “the caller claimed to be from…” when you have not independently verified an organisation.

Keep private information private

Do not include a person’s home address, private email, bank or card details, passwords, identity documents or names of private individuals. Avoid information about health, sexuality, ethnicity or other sensitive characteristics. A phone number under review does not justify publishing its owner’s identity.

Be fair and specific

Distinguish what you observed from what you suspect. A missed call, regional accent, unfamiliar number or spelling mistake alone does not establish fraud. Genuine organisations can be impersonated. Explain why a request concerned you without asserting an unproven criminal identity.

No objectionable content

Threats, bullying, hate speech, discriminatory abuse, pornography, sexual exploitation, child abuse or exploitation, encouragement of violence or self-harm, scams and promotion of illegal activity are prohibited. Describe unwanted calls without reproducing explicit content. Do not encourage others to confront, identify or target a caller or number owner.

No manipulation

Do not post duplicate reports, coordinate ratings, vote on your own reports, advertise, threaten, harass or submit copyrighted material belonging to others. Helpful votes assess whether a report is useful; they do not prove it is true.

Moderation

Reports publish immediately after automated validation and anti-spam checks. Our team can subsequently edit, reject, remove or restore reports, with reasons recorded. Publication is not verification of a caller’s identity or the truth of a claim. If you believe a report is inaccurate or harmful, report abuse or request a review. In the apps, use Flag this report to contact moderators or Hide this report to hide the individual entry locally. Hiding is not an author-blocking feature. You can also contact support@whoscallingme.co.uk. Serious safety and privacy concerns are prioritised; violations may result in removal of content or restrictions on access.

Safety first

Do not call a suspect number to confront someone or investigate a scam yourself. Contact your bank promptly if money or account access may be at risk. Our reports are not a substitute for reporting crime to the appropriate authority.
